Lott's Bricks, Ltd was founded by Ernest Lott and was later run by his son, Arthur Lott. The bricks, which were made from ground chalk, marble dust, linseed oil and resin, were manufactured in Bushey, nr Watford from 1917 until the early 1960s.
The range included Lott's Bricks, Kindergarten Blocks, Tudor Blocks, Lodomo, Buildec, Wonderbrix and Junior Builder. |

 | 30th Apr 2009 | Kindergarten Blocks
Kindergarten Blocks, which were initially designated as Series A, were introduced in 1921. There were two sets and the bricks came in various colours.
In the early 1930's a revised series of three Kindergarten sets was introduced with bricks in three colours and including pillars, arches, pinnacles and quadrant bricks. Sets 2 & 3 only were re-issued in 1951/52.

 | 3rd Mar 2009 to 15th Aug 2009 | Wonderbrix & Junior Builder
Wonderbrix were introduced in October 1938 and were to 00 gauge. The range consisted of 4 sets and was divided into Wonderbrix Toytown and Wonderbrix Fairy. Wonderbrix Fairy set 1 was no longer listed after 1949. A Wonderbrix Fairy set 2 was planned, but I am not certain that this was issued. From late 1953, Wonderbrix Toytown set 1 was repackaged as Lott's Junior Builder. Toytown sets 2 & 3 were available for a few more years. The original Junior Builder set was a repacking of a pre-war Lott's Bricks box 0.

Buildec, the combined building and painting toy, was introduced in October 1936. Boxes 1 -3 were available and contained bricks, roofs, bottles of paint and a paintbrush. The bricks were supplied unpainted and included Lodomo & Tudor embossed bricks, doors, windows and striped bricks.

 | 1st Oct 2008 | Lott's Bricks Exhibition - Bushey Museum 2008
This comprehensive exhibition of Lott's Bricks models, sets, literature and artwork was organised by Malcolm Hanson and Gary Birch.

 | 13th Sep 2008 | Lott's Bricks Final Series
The pre-war New Series was rebranded as Lott's Bricks in 1952 and sold in small cardboard boxes until the early 1960s. Sets 1 to 4 were available.

 | 13th Sep 2008 | New Series
The New Series or 'Silver Series' with blue/red doors and windows was introduced in silver boxes from September 1938 and was rebranded as Lott's Bricks in 1952. Sets 1 to 4 were available.

 | 13th Sep 2008 | Railway Box & Accessory Sets
The Railway Box contained Lodomo bricks, plus cardboard platforms, lattice bricks, special doors etc. and was introduced in 1930. It was probably withdrawn by 1938.
Two Accessory Sets were available from 1930 to supplement Lott's Bricks and two sets were available for Tudor Blocks. The Tudor Blocks Accessory sets, which contained brown doors & windows, were withdrawn in 1936, but those for Lott's Bricks lasted until at least 1938.

Garden Sets, which usually contained trees, shrubs, paling fences, shells, sand and extra roofs were introduced in 1923. Sets 1 & 2 were eventually available and the very first sets did not contain the shrubs, shells & sand.

 | 13th Sep 2008 to 25th Oct 2009 | Tudor Blocks Revised Series
The 'New Series' of Tudor Blocks with herringbone brickwork, brown doors and green diamond-paned windows was introduced on 1 October 1936 and was still on sale in 1963. The new parts had been available in Accessory Sets from 1930. Sets 1 to 6 were available.

Lodomo was introduced in 1929 and contained embossed bricks and green doors and windows. The date of final withdrawal was in the early 1960s. Sets 1 to 3 were available.

Tudor Blocks were introduced in December 1922 and were known initially as Series C. They were replaced by a revised series with doors and windows on 1 October 1936. Sets 1 to 4 were eventually available in the initial series

The original series of Lott's Bricks was introduced in 1917 and was withdrawn in 1938. For a time from 1921 they were designated as Series B. Sets available were A (later 1 & also split into 0 & 0A in 1924/25), B (later 1A), 1 (later 2), 2 (later 2A), 3, 4 (later 3A), 4 (combining the old 3 & 4), 5 (later 4A) & 6 (later 5). The renumbering took place on 1/1/1926.
